Japanese PM Abe to Attend COP21 in Paris
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is going to be attending a meeting of COP21 which will be held in Paris on November 30.
COP21 is a conference to discuss prevention of global warming and it is under United Nations. This meeting will aim to reach agreement on a new global framework requiring both developed and developing countries to reduce emissions of greenhouse effect gas.
Currently, there is a framework named "Kyoto Protocol" to obligate developed countries to reduce the amount of greenhouse effect gas. However, it is a little tough and unfair for developed countries as global warming is an international issue and it expect a lot of things only from developed countries.
The new framework is to replace this Kyoto Protocol and expect all countries of the world to be part of it from the year 2020. However, it is expected that, to conclude the meeting as there are differences in every aspect for all countries in the world.
Abe said in an international conference in Tokyo, "We will do our best in order to create a new framework which is effective and fair for all countries of the world." He is willing to do his best to achieve the agreement of new framework.
Japanese prime minister understands the needs of political leadership as different countries have different opinions and there are also many issues that need to overcome.
This is the first time in six years for Japanese prime minister to attend the United Nations conference for global warming issue. Former Japanese prime minister, Yukio Hatoyama was the last one attended back in 2009.
There will be the G8 summit held in Mie prefecture next year and Abe wants to show his commitment for international issues to other countries by attending this conference in Paris. Abe will prove that Japanese latest technologies can contribute to preventing global warming reducing.
