Japanese Company to Sell World's First Bowel Movement Sensor/Timer

"You feel like going but can't tell when..." - can  happen to anyone. If you are sound and healthy, you only go as nature calls you. But, for those not sound enough to cope with foul bowel movement, this is a serious matter.

Here's a piece of wonderful news for those who have trouble controlling bowel movement or are on diapers.

A venture company in Tokyo, Triple W Japan", has come up with a wearable excretion forecast device "D Free" that tells you how many minutes afterward your bowel movement is coming.

DFree is 35mm x 53mm x 8mm in size, mounting an ultrasonic sensor that reacts to certain characteristic movements inside the intestines prior to approaching bowel movement. The device statistically analyzes the data and pre-collected data on excretion time to determine the timing of excretion and urination.

If connected to a smartphone, the data will show on the screen e.g. "70% filled now; bowel movement coming in 10 minutes", etc.
The development was contributed by Dr. Toshinori Yamakawa, head of Surgical Department of Shiratori Hospital, Kagawa, and excretion care experts of the Japan Continence Action Society.

Data shows over 4.3 million people have trouble controlling excretion due to malfunction by age or cognitive impairment and experience leakage of feces.

DFree is definitely an encouraging answer to those who are constantly on diapers or can't go out for fear of excretion.
Last April through July the company successfully raised funds over 12.66 million yen through the crowdfunding "READYFOR" and displayed the product at CEATEC JAPAN 2015 late October.

The company plans deliveries in April next year. The price of DFree is undecided but will probably be in the neighborhood of tens of thousands of yen.
