The Number of Police Officers Doubled for Halloween in Shibuya

Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has decided to double the number of police officers patrolling around Shibuya train station during Halloween events on Saturday and Sunday of the 30th to 31st of October.

This is because a huge number of youths wearing Halloween costumes gathered in the area last year and caused confusion for all who were at the Shibuya Station and Shibuya area. The police officer has spoken to reporters "In order to make the event very enjoyable, we need everyone to maintain their manners so that event can stay safe and enjoyable for all."

Last year's Halloween was on a Friday. According to police sources, this encouraged more people to be involved in Halloween party last year. The greater number of young people participated than expected and caused some problems on the day last year. Police department increased the number of officers up to 200 in the Shibuya area last year, but that was not enough. Many drunk young people were on the street of car lanes and cause traffic to be bad and it was extremely dangerous for themselves too. There was a guy touching girl's body in the panicked city at night and a young man punching police officer as well.

This year's Halloween is on Saturday and the same or even greater number of people are expected to be participating in the event in Shibuya. The number of police officers will be the same as the new year's eve and a big game day of the Japanese football national team playing in the world cup. However, there will be no traffic regulation on the day and night. "Casual security" will be the motto for the event so that user of the train station will not be affected and people can enjoy the event.
