The 3-Nation Round Robin in the game of Go closed with the Korean master  Park Junghwan carrying away the grand prize of 30 thousand yen - the Chinese master Ban Yuting finished 2:1, Deep ZenGo 1:2 and Japan's Yuta Iyama boobied 0:3. DeepZenGo performed brilliantly every game it played, even the two games he eventually lost due to certain technical shortcomings at end games.

The DeepZenGo-Iyama contest was thrilling. Yuta Iyama controlled earlier parts of the game till DeepZenGo came from behind to turn the table the other way around to swept a win away from the Japanese master. Iyama comments on his performance, thus:

"Sorry I had to lose the way I did, but the games only remind me where I stand right now. The experience this time will definitely help me step farther up."
The designer of DeepZenGo recalls the performance of his machine:

"I believe our machine did a lot better than we had anticipated. The experience this time is invaluable in that we have discovered DeepZenGo's shortcomings toward the end of the game."

The winning champion Park Junghwan of Korea comments:

" I knew I trailed every game I played till the middle of the game. I was fortunate to win them all as I told myself to hang on till the last minute.
"I say I was lucky to beat DeepZenGo. That machine terrified me."

Too bad Yuta Iyama did so poorly in the contest. The talks prior to the championship had Iyama atop them all and the DeepZenGo designer Kato had modestly anticipated his machine to have "just a win". Iyama ended up himself giving that "just one win" to none other than the machine. (Nathan Shiga)
