Panasonic Acquires POS Terminal Management Software Firm in Canada

By September 1, 2015 at 8:26 pm

On September 1, Panasonic announced that it has acquired a 51% stake in Quick Service Software, a Canadian firm that provides software for managing POS terminals used in retail stores. By integrating Pansonic's offerings with the QSS retail management software, it intends to grow its BtoB solutions business.

According to the company, QSS is a major company in Back Office Software (BOSW) for restaurant businesses in North America, with a 60% market share in Canada. It was founded in 2000 and its sales figures are undisclosed. Panasonic says QSS offers both a strong product line that support cloud-based software, multi-language, and multi-browser, as well as a strong development team capable of quickly responding to clients' needs.

The current management team will stay and continue to compete in the global market after the acquisition.
Panasonic is focusing on the food distribution industry as a major business area in its business plan extending to FY2018, and is optimistic about the North American region for its large market size and strong recent growth.
