Nissan Motor Co. announced on September 2 that they are launching "Electric Vehicle (e-NV200) Case Study Emergence Project" which lend "e-NV200", their electric vehicles  (EV), to local governments of 47 prefectures for three years without any charge.

Based on the Nissan NV200 Vanette, a multiple-purpose commercial van, the e-NV200 offers the interior roominess and versatility of the NV200 with a smooth acceleration and quietness of EV by combining with a e-powertrain. The power outlet that can draw a maximum of 1500 W of power makes it possible to supply electricity outside and can be used as a running electrical power source.

This project will offer a lease of the e-NV200 for 3 years for free to the local government, which came up with ideas of the usage of an electric vehicle, and have them actually use the car. Actual examples are to use it as "a working vehicle in various areas utilizing its quietness and power-supplying function", "an electrical power source in a case of emergency", and "a countermeasure for the decreasing gas stations in hilly and mountainous areas".

Nissan aims for the spread of EV by launching the project nationwide and building up examples of utilization of the e-NV200 applying its feature.
