"No Trouble, Lady. Babies Cry for Good Reasons..", Heartwarming Story Went Viral
A witty bus driver eased embarrassment of a mother with a crying baby and nerves of his passengers with his few tender words.
It happened on August 31 afternoon in Yokohama when a mother with her baby came aboard with her friend. Minutes afterwards, fifteen or so passengers heard the baby starting to cry. However hard the mother tried the baby wouln't stop crying. Her friend helped her somehow control the baby in vain. Her friend got off a few stops later, the mother alone having bad time stopping her baby cry.
The moment the entire bus was about to turn a pot of piercing baby cry and prevailing irritation, there came a tender-voiced in-vehicle announcement: "No trouble, Lady. Babies cry for good reasons. Maybe sleepy or hungry or just wet. Or maybe it's too warm in here......."
The driver was Kenji Suzuki, 46, a 20-year veteran driver of Yokohama City Bus. He said to Asahi Shinbum: "Well, I thought of the mother first. She must be awfully embarrassed with a crying baby. I thought she wouldn't ride our bus again just because of this unfortunate incident".
News does fly, folks. This episode found its way into the internet and the whole story circulated in a jiffy. "What a driver!", "He is THE PRO", and waves of words of admiration followed days on.
Put yourselves in her shoes, and you will agree those soft witty words must have sounded angelic voices. Miyuki Hakii, secretary of a NPO "Mamma", praised the bus driver for his witty manner to ease the tension. Her group in its own way collaborated in 2007 with taxi companies in its district to run "Child-Rearing Taxis" driven by drivers trained to deal with expecting and child-rearing mothers. Ms. Hakii says more mothers with children are using the child-rearing taxis.
