Haneda Airport Ranked World's Safest Airport 2015
Tokyo's Haneda International Airport (Tokyo International Airport) was ranked 5th in the Global Airport Ranking (SKYTRAX,), equivalent to Five Star in restaurant services. In airport security, Haneda came No. 1 ahead of Copenhagen, Narita, Taiwan Taiyuan, and Kansai, as voted for by customers around the globe in the World Airport Survey.
Skytrax launched the first global airport customer satisfaction survey in 1999 and simultaneously the World Airport Awards began. The following year over one million airport customers participated in the survey. The survey has attracted a growing number of users, 13 million in the period 2014-15.
Customers make their own personal choices which amount to the Passenger's Choice Award. The customer satisfaction survey is participated by travelers across the globe.
Now, in "World's Best Airpot Staff" division, Haneda came second after Taiwan Taoyuan. In cleanness Haneda again come second this time after Incheon. Haneda topped others in the Best Domestic Airports division. Kansai Airport excelled all others in baggage delivery.
Haneda Airport authorities attribute the airport's favorable performances to a series of ideas brought in to improve website facilities and CS (customer satisfaction) campaigns. The Tokyo Olympics five years ahead, Haneda International Airport plans to install within this year pilot tax-free shops in the Ginza for customers to receive commodities purchased ahead of time at the pilot shops.
Haneda also contemplates introducing service robots in cleaning as well as conveying luggage. Japan is steps ahead in robotics and airport users will soon find all sorts of robots moving to and fro in various areas of airport management.
The airport authorities plan to conduct their version of Airport Customer's Survey to collect data to further improve facilities and services. Haneda's Domestic Passenger Terminal marked 60th year last May and a number of projects are under way to update its facilities to cope with increasing inbound traffic.
