Anime Characters Goodwill Donations Year After Year in Japan
Heard of PreCure or Pretty Cure? How about Miyuki Hoshizora? If all this is Greek to you, don't be ashamed. Most people wouldn't understand either. The following episode will help you decipher some of these word riddles.
On September 9, a package was delivered to the City Office in Minami Ward, Yokohama from an anime heroine Miyuki Hoshizora. It was a satchel for school children; a note came with it addressed to Mayor Fumiko Hayashi, reading:
"For children with a growing future. May their days be filled with smiles. From Miyuki Hoshizora".
That was the second time such a gift was delivered. In October 2013, a red satchel was delivered with a note co-signed by two, reading:
"Here's a small gift from both of us. We are copying Naoto Date. Congratulations. From Miyuki Hoshizora and Asari Hamada".
Now, what do you make out of all this? Lots of names here and there, and you might need help to get acquainted with the basics.
This person Miyuki Hoshizora happens to be one of the PreCure heroines....... Well, PreCure is short for Pretty Cure, a popular Japanese magical girl anime series. Miyuki Hoshizora is the heroine of "Smile PreCure".
Asari Hamano is the heroine of the popular manga "Asari-chan". Naoto Date is the hero of another popular professional wrestling manga "Tiger Mask". Back in 2011, "gifts" were found delivered in his name in various places in Japan.
So, that's the picture. Anime and manga heroines and heroes are impersonating anonymous benefactors to offer goodwill gifts.
"Miyuki Hoshizora" made donations also in March 2014 when 3 copies of "Anne's Frank's Diary", some stationery and sweets - altogether 34 articles were delivered, signed by "CureHappy Miyuki Hoshizora. That coincided with an incident of a few copies of "Anne's Frank's Diary" in a public library found torn apart.
There always are philanthropists to remind us all the hub of love and compassion. C'est fini.
