On September 15th, Pokemon Company announced that a new series of popular anime "Pokemon", entitled "Pokemon XY & Z", would start airing on TV Tokyo from October 29th in Japan.

The story is a continuation of the previous series "Pokemon XY". The premier on October 29th will be a one-hour special, consisting of 2 episodes. Also, the new promo video and the new visual has been revealed on the official website.

In addition, a character song project has been begun, with Tomohisa Sako working as the executive producer. Both the music and dance routine from the opening theme of "Pokemon XY", sung by Sako and entitled "Getta Ban Ban" called a huge attention, with its ringtone reaching the number one daily download on 5 different distribution websites. This success and Sako's connection with Pokemon earned him recognition, leading to his participation in this character song project.

The opening theme for the new series "Pokemon XY & Z", entitled "XY & Z", is sung by the main character Satoshi (Ash in the English dub), with music and lyrics by Sako. The actual vocalist for the song will be Satoshi's voice actor, Rica Matsumoto. Matsumoto has voiced Satoshi ever since the series' premiere in 1997.

There are plans for more character song projects down the line. We can't wait to hear what kind of music Sako, who grew up watching Pokemon, will produce for the project.
