STAP Cells cannot be Reproduced, 7 labs Released Result of Experiments

By September 27, 2015 at 11:31 am

It was beginning of 2014 when Haruko Obokata became famous for the achievement of reproducing STAP cells in Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) in Japan. However, the result of the experiment was denied and has not yet proven that STAP cells can be reproduced. On Wednesday 23rd of September, seven labs have confirmed after one hundred and thirty-three times of attempts, STAP cells cannot be reproduced.

Nature, the British science journal told the reanalysis of STAP cells shows an example of the self-correcting nature of the science. According to Nature, the seven laboratories are based in the United States, China and Israel, including Harvard Medical School where professor Charles Vacanti, the co-author of the disgraced papers on the STAP cell discovery, belongs.

The laboratories tried to generate STAP cells following the methods written by Haruko Obokata. The attempts of a hundred and thirty-three times showed no positive results. The research group has said that all of the claimed STAP cell lines were contaminated with embryonic stem cells and that this contamination affected the results.

RIKEN has released a thesis saying that what Obokata thought STAP cells were ES cells. This result shown by seven labs are said to be the truth and it is believed by the world that at this moment today, the existence of the STAP cells can not be recognized. The result of these experiments all over the world is very harsh for Haruko Obokata.
