Rakuten Launched 20 Minutes Delivery Service in Tokyo

Japanese online retail giant Rakuten has started new instant delivery service "Rakubin", the shortest delivery time is 20 minutes, in the limited areas; Shibuya-ku, Meguro-ku, Setagaya-ku, and Minato-ku in Tokyo.

In the Rakuten service, consumers can purchase about 450 items such as: convenience store's products like soft drink, alcohol and snacks, drugstore's products like detergent, toilet paper and diaper, as well as top sales products in "Racuten Ichiba", sweets and coffee provided in "Rakuten Cafe".

The service is avilable 24 hours a day using special smartphone app. Users can designate its registered address of Rakuten as a pick-up spot or indicate flexible spot on the displayed map by one-tap. They choose products and can receive them as early as 20 minutes after the order. As long as it is in the service area, delivery can be made to anywhere, not only to home or office but also to the places buyers can receive products directly like a shop or a park.

In the app, users can check the estimate time of delivery before order and after order the scheduled delivery time is displayed at intervals of about 15 minutes. One time delivery fee is 390 yen in case of that buyers receive products from delivery vehicle at the designated spot, or 770 yen in case of that delivery staff delivers directly to the buyer.
