New Logo of Tokyo Copied Again?

Tokyo Governor Yoichi Masuzoe has revealed the new logo of Japanese capital at a press conference held in Tokyo on Friday 9th of October. It is not a long ago that the official logo for 2020 Olympic and Paralympic logo were disabled by the Olympic committee for copyright reason.

Tokyo has released the logo of "& Tokyo" in order to combine together with other words to promote the variety of good things from Tokyo from Japan. For example, it can be combined together with Sushi to promote the Japanese traditional food by using the logo of "Sushi & Tokyo." 

Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic will be held in 2020 and many people will visit Japan from all over the world. The capital city is trying to maximize the positive effect being brought by the athletic event. The new logo can be used for many promotion reasons. Using this new symbol, Tokyo wants to attract more visitors into the city and create its own fans from all around the world.

Governor of Tokyo, Masuzoe said that "If we can promote our city together to the world, we can make Tokyo to be one of the best tourists attracting city in the world."

However, some internet users have been pointing out that the logo is looks alike with another logo which already exist. They say that the logo is very similar to a French specs brand named "Plug & See" based in Lyon. 

Masuzoe has replied to this by saying "It is just a symbol, and there is no copyright for that." He also exaggerated that 130 million yen has been spent for the creation of this symbol and about 25 million yen of that were used for the trademark search.
