Japan is a land of wonders. Its scenic beauties, exquisite cuisine, exotic traditions - no, something else. Japan is home to people who go too far overboard.

That said, how does the following episode sound to you?

People are strange; some look for the queerest things. On October 17, Chiba Urban Monorail put used coaches for sale at the event "Chiba Monorail Festival 2015".

"Life with a Monorail Coach".

This doesn't  make sense - but it does to some!

Put on sale was a model called Type1000 manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1987, one of the 1st generation monorail coaches, with an impressive mileage of 1,938,000 kilometers.

It has a price tag of 350,000 yen (approx. $3,000, including six cars) and costs to more than 1,000,000 yen to deliver:  "A lovely coach that has carried many a passenger over the years......."

Twitters are busy relaying the news on the net:
What a mileage! Still costs 350,000!Mitsubishi ought to take it a way...
Hey, I can recycle it.
No more trash, please.I want it, but couldn't somebody cover delivery cost for me?
I have enough space; a good playground for my kid..
Why not make it a lounge for an unmanned station?

Now, there are in Japan a bunch of people who are crazy over anything and everything to do railways: Tetchan. They spare not time and effort to be in touch with and/or informed of trains, rails, locomotives, signboards, gadgets, you name it.

Such folks will travel any distance to take photos, record sound, paint pictures, write stories  - about railways.

So, however, absurd it may seem, this monorail will sell to some one of such railway nerds. Or else, the valuable merchandise is doomed to be scrapped - an event such dear folks can never bear to see.
